When Hollywood royalty converges on Los Angeles' Union Station this weekend for the 93rd annual Academy Awards, they'll be met with a venue that has been transformed both aesthetically and logistically. Taking the helm on the design end at this year's Oscars is David Rockwell of Rockwell Group. Rockwell will serve as the award show's production designer (the architect/designer previously designed sets for the Oscars twice).

Seating at the awards show will be kept intimate, an ode to the Academy's very first ceremonies and a necessity amid the pandemic. The seating area, which is located in Union Station’s grand ticket concourse, will be multi-tiered and feature a series of custom café tables and chairs. A custom-designed, Oscar-inspired lamp will serve as a centerpiece on each table.

The ticket concourse will be gorgeously adorned with art deco chandeliers, inlaid marble floors and hand painted mission tiles.

The center of the excitement, a thrust stage, is made of rich, inlaid wood. There are built-in LED lights throughout and a giant, velvet drape with oversized matching tassels behind the stage. The glitz and glam continues outside thanks to an outdoor seating area that features a colorful tiled fountain and benches shaded by jacaranda trees

To see Rockwell's sure-to-be-stunning designs live, tune into the Oscars when the awards show airs at 8 PM EST and Sunday, April 25.
