UNC baseball vs. Georgia in NCAA Tournament regional elimination game: Live score updates

Staying alive: UNC baseball holds off Georgia in NCAA Tournament, sets up rematch with VCU

CHAPEL HILL — Catcher Tomas Frick sees North Carolina baseball rising to the challenge Sunday in the NCAA Tournament.

Facing elimination, the Tar Heels (39-20) must defeat Georgia (35-23) at 1 p.m. in a losers bracket matchup and then solve VCU (42-18) at 6 p.m. to keep their season alive. Putting together back-to-back victories would force the Chapel Hill Regional to a winner-take-all Monday.

UNC’s task Sunday at Boshamer Stadium must be accomplished without coach Scott Forbes, who was suspended for two games following his ejection from an eventful 4-3 loss to VCU on Saturday night. Assistant coach Bryant Gaines took over in Forbes’ absence.
