Bette Midler is setting the record straight about a famous Hocus Pocus quote—and it’s making us say oh, cheese and crust!

In celebration of the highly anticipated Hocus Pocus 2, Midler (who plays Winifred Sanderson, the leader of the spell-casting trio) posted a photo of her character on Instagram. “Hello sailors!” she wrote in the caption. “My name’s Winifred, what’s yours? #WinifredSanderson.”

The famous line references the iconic musical number sung by the Sanderson Sisters in the film, titled “I Put a Spell on You.” In the original movie, Winfred starts the song by saying “Hello” and then a word that starts with “s”. However, when the actress wrote the word “sailors” in the caption, fans started to wonder if they’d been introducing the song incorrectly this entire time.

One person wrote in the comments section, “I was today years old when I learned she says ‘Sailors’ instead of ‘Salem,’” alongside a bunch of mind-blown emojis. Another said, “I always thought you were saying ‘Hello, Salem’ [laughing emojis].”

While we continue to process this revelation, fans have been counting down the days until the sequel premieres on September 30 on Disney+. Hocus Pocus 2 follows a young woman named Becca (Whitney Peak), who accidentally resurrects the Sanderson Sisters—Winifred (Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Mary (Kathy Najimy).

After the “Black Flamed Candle” is lit once again, the witches return to modern-day Salem in search of children’s souls. Becca and her two classmates, Izzy (Belissa Escobedo) and Cassie (Lilia Buckingham), band together to stop the sisters once and for all.

Mind = Blown.
