Um, Selena Gomez’s Kitchen Is the Size of My House

Selena Gomez is starring in a new show—and it’s not what you think. The pop star is using the coronavirus pandemic as an excuse to master the kitchen (and not just by whipping up some dalgona coffee like the rest of us).

And, my God, what a kitchen this is. Seriously, Gomez’s cooking space is the size of every New York City apartment I’ve ever lived in combined—and about a million times more functional. (Seriously, one year I had to decide between an oven and a dishwasher, and I made the wrong choice. You decide which one you think I picked.)

“A little sneak of what I’m cookin’ up,” Gomez tweeted along with a preview of Selena + Chef, her new HBO Max show that sees her learning new recipes and cuisines from a variety of master chefs. The 10-episode season will debut some time this summer.

My favorite part of the preview is when chef Ludo Lefebvre tells her he’s using an electric stove, and she says hers is also electric until she realizes, “Oh, no, mine’s fire.”

Two things: (1) The term she was looking for was gas; (2) I have way more in common with Selena Gomez than I ever thought possible. Give me a bajillion more dollars, and we’re basically the same person. (Petition to make “Oh, no, mine’s fire” the catchphrase of 2020.)

“I’ve always been very vocal about my love of food,” Gomez said in a statement, per People. “I think I’ve been asked hundreds of times in interviews if I had another career, what would I do, and I’ve answered that it would be fun to be a chef. I definitely don’t have the formal training, though! Like many of us, while being home, I find myself cooking more and experimenting in the kitchen.”

This actually sounds like something that I need in my life, but can someone please explain to me why an inexperienced chef has a gorgeous brick-wall stove that looks like it belongs in an Olive Garden? I’m not jealous, I’m just—okay, I’m definitely just jealous.
