Family vacations are fun, exhausting, and exhilarating at the same. They offer and incredible opportunity to spend quality time with those you love most, but finding a destination that offers activities and adventures that everyone will love can be a challenge.

That's certainly the case this summer, says Erika Richter, travel expert and representative for the American Society For Travel Advisors (ASTA), who says that many families are opting for all-inclusive destinations and cruises for that very reason. "Family time is a priority for most Americans setting out for a vacation this summer, which is why people will seek out vacation options that have a little something to offer everyone," she says. "Families are looking for hotels and resorts that have childcare options available. This is a trend we’ll see more often, especially for the adults who want to balance out the moments of togetherness with some of their own quality time."

Richter says she's seeing an uptick in families traveling this summer, after two seasons of unease due to COVID-19 fears, but some destinations are still operating at limited capacity so it's best to book soon and check with your destination about any restrictions and special requirements. And for even more peace of mind, Richter recommends working with a travel professional to make your plans and purchasing traveler's insurance. "Things happen: We all learned that lesson in 2020," she says. "Make sure you’re protecting your summer holiday with the right level of travel protection."
