People Are Actually Bidding in the Fyre Festival Merchandise Auction

From Esquire

On Thursday, U.S. Marshals announced that 126 items of merchandise from the ill-fated Fyre Festival are officially up for auction online.

Bidding has since commenced through the Texas-based auction house Gaston & Sheehan and there seems to be legitimate interest in many of the items. The most sought after item is a Dad hat featuring the text “Fyre” underneath the failed festival’s logo. It’s currently going for $220 after 29 bids. A pair of neon blue joggers, originally priced at $70, have attracted bids upwards of $100. And if that sounds too expensive, don’t worry. There are over 50 other pairs of joggers available on the site and almost 12 days left to bid.

“The proceeds from the sale of these items, all traceable to McFarland’s $26 million fraud, will go toward the victims of his crimes,” said U.S. Marshal Ralph Sozio of the Southern District of New York in the statement released on Thursday.

Other collector items up for sale include Livestrong-esque rubber wristbands featuring the words “Conspiracy to change the entertainment industry,” and a white crewneck sweatshirt bearing a $100 price tag and a current bid of a whopping $300.
