k: No one should get to go college free. A little skin in the game can be very motivating. And I, as a taxpayer, would now be asked to "pay for" another hand out to a population that is "considered to be less fortunate". I see that less fortunate population driving Lexus' and Range Rovers and elementary children showing up at school dressed in $150 sneakers and $100 soccer jerseys. Before we start handing out more money to the less fortunate, I think we need to come up with a better way of determining who is and isn't part of that picture, instead of continuing to throw our tax money at the problem. There are tons of success stories of people who have graduated and made a great life for themselves without taking handouts at every turn. I have saved and funded my children's college educations as a single mother. They got part-time jobs, attended part-time and night school when necessary, and they both have wonderful careers (registered nurse and pharma sales rep). It's called hard work
