Tyreek Hill retirement date set for after 2025 season?

Plans can change and statements can be walked back, but Dolphins' star receiver Tyreek Hill made a statement and seems to have a plan to retire from the NFL after only three more seasons.

"I'm going for 10, man," Hill said in an interview on Sports Radio 810 WHB in Kansas City. "I'm gonna finish out this contract with the Dolphins and then I'm gonna call it quits. I want to go into the business side. I want to do so many things in my life, bro."

Hill, 29, has been a Pro Bowler in all seven of his NFL seasons and is a future Hall of Famer.

Hill is under contract for four more seasons, but a $56.3 million cap hit in that final season is unlikely to be paid out in that fashion because Miami would save $45 million with a release.

The Dolphins could theoretically rework his contract before then.

It is a bit shocking that Hill is talking about retirement plans after only one season with the Dolphins. But Hill is prone to say whatever is on his mind, no matter what people may think or say about it.

"So I really want to get into like the gaming space. I really want to get huge in that and that's kind of what I'm doing right now," Hill said. "I'm using my platform, creating a gaming team, which isn't launched yet. It should launch by the end of this month. I'm gonna just sign like different content creators, different athletes. I just been working that, talking to different sponsors."

Hill had a career-high 1,710 yards for Miami last season. He is the Dolphins' best player.

Miami is in win-now mode, so this news really won't change Miami's track to compete for an AFC East title this year, an AFC crown in the next two years, and a Super Bowl victory in the next three years.

Hill's plan (as of now) fits into that window.

Wait — when does Tyreek Hill plan to retire?

And, as we know, Hill could always change his mind if he's having too much fun.

Hill asked out of Kansas City before last season because, as he revealed, the notion of Christian Kirk making more than he made was not fun at all.

"(Kirk) signed the deal (with the Jaguars) and like he surpassed me and I'm like, bro, I compete on the field and I also compete on the business out of this, too," Hill said. "So, I'm not going to let Christian Kirk have a higher contract than me. I'm just not."

Hill said he is looking forward to facing his former team in 2023.

"Chiefs Kingdom, when the Miami Dolphins come to Arrowhead Stadium this year, guess what we gonna do?" Hill said. "Guess what we gonna do? I hate to say it, man. I hate to throw up the peace sign against y'all. I hate to do it! But guess what? I'm gonna be y'all worst enemy that day. I'm gonna be y'all worst enemy that day."
