Pea Island is a quick boat ride from Columbia Island; the name will ring a bell if you were a member of Huguenot Yacht Club through the ’40s, ’50s, and ’60s. Columbia Island comes with its own history, as well. Owned by CBS between 1940 and 1960, the island was used as emergency accommodations, a broadcast tower, and a transmitter bunker. The island was eventually given to the College of New Rochelle before the property was flipped in 2007 by its current owner to turn it into a home. It’s a unique property, given you can still see its previous lives detailed in the home’s design.

With the updates, the owner made sure to make the island self-sufficient: It has a solar-powered electrical system, as well as flood and storm protection, given its located in the Long Island Sound.

The two islands are on the market for $13 million. Columbia Island is equipped with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, an open-plan kitchen, and a living room with incredible views of Long Island Sound. You can even see New York City’s skyline from the rooftop.

You can read more about the islands and how to buy them — and find photos of them for, you know, daydreaming reasons — at the listing on Sotheby’s International Realty.
