Twitter Is Infuriated About How Cersei Died on Game of Thrones
Spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5, "The Bells," below.
Look, I'm just gonna get straight to the point: The penultimate episode of Game of Thrones was a mess. Daenerys went mad, "Dracarys"-d Varys's ass, then burned King's Landing to the ground despite the King's Guard surrendering. The Hound and the Mountain engaged in an utterly pointless round of Cleganebowl before falling to their deaths. And Arya did … nothing, which is perhaps the most stunning development of all. (Jon also did nothing, which is comically on brand for him.)
But right now, we're here to talk about how dirty Game of Thrones did Cersei in her final moments.
Everybody watching how Cersei went out:

First of all, I did not buy those tears for a second. There's more iron in Cersei's blood than the entirety of the Iron Fleet. Period.
Then Jaime showed up and ran into her arms, blowing the valonqar theories to hell and enraging everyone:
I think I speak for everybody when I say this was all our reactions when Jaime didn’t cut Cersei on sight #GameOfThrones pic.twitter.com/qqyAwiwLML

My favorite part of tonight’s episode was when Cersei was killed by Jaime... oh wait #GameOfThrones pic.twitter.com/0Bavi5yZnK

Then, of all the ways to take Cersei down, you go with a building collapse? In what world? I can see that for Jaime, but for Cersei? No ma'am.
RIP to Cersei Lannister aka the best villain of all times, she deserveda way better death #GameOfThrones pic.twitter.com/z1dw8fnJ4m

Listen I didn’t like Cersei but I can’t support her getting killed by rocks #gameofthrones pic.twitter.com/WTU3jG16PX

Naturally, some people hoped their eyes deceived them:
Someone tell me that somehow Cersei survived because I need her to die a way more terrible death than that.... Also... wtf Jamie? #GameofThrones pic.twitter.com/Clklm40URb

Y'all really gon' be pissed when Cersei gets out of that rubble and moves far away where she'll raise her baby and open a farmer's market.
- The Big Bag Wolf (@KidFury) May 13, 2019
And let's not forget the wig, perhaps the biggest disservice to this character over the last three seasons:
Not the death I wanted for Cersei, but on the bright side...with her head all crushed, nobody will even notice that wig. #GoT pic.twitter.com/ErwpuBumI0
- The Big Bag Wolf (@KidFury) May 13, 2019
Also, a reminder that Cersei spent the last three seasons staring off into the distance, drinking wine, and looking smug. It was boring, and Lena Headey deserves far better. Frankly, I miss these days:
Remember when, while always being a villain, Cersei was an interesting, layered character you could count on for some of the show's best scenes? #gameofthrones

In conclusion: That was bad.
