Twitter exec exits, Tencent misses, Starbucks reimagines the checkout line

Here’s a look at some of the companies the Yahoo Finance team will be watching for you.

Twitter (TWTR) tops our list. The stock is slightly lower on news that its chief information security officer is leaving. Michael Coates says he plans to start his own security company. The move comes on the heels of security departures at Google and Facebook this month.

Tencent (TCEHY) is a stock to watch today. Shares of China’s largest company slid nearly 5% Wednesday after reporting a revenue miss for its fourth quarter. The WeChat operator also warned shareholders that new investments in video and payment methods could shrink margins.

If you haven’t had your morning cup of Joe, Starbucks (SBUX) wants you to place a mobile order. The coffee chain is working to boost sales by offering mobile-app ordering to all its customers instead of just loyalty members. Starbucks says the app helps to better target products to different customers and is key to growing sales after its morning rush.

Elon Musk is getting a raise. Tesla (TSLA) shareholders approved the CEO’s $2.6B compensation package. Excluding votes from Musk and brother Kimbal, the measure passed with 73% of the votes. The compensation package is tied to Tesla’s performance.

The end is near for Toys R Us. The toy store begins liquidation sales today and expects to close all of its stores by June. However, there is a last ditch effort to save the iconic store. Bratz doll-maker MGA CEO Issac Larian is pulling together a group of investors to raise $800M to keep the brand alive.
