Male authors and screenwriters have a problem describing their female charactersas anything more than a handful of physical qualities that may or may not match up to the writer's own ideals of female beauty. Now a new Twitter challenge started by podcaster Whitney Reynolds has women stepping into the shoes of a male author and focusing the male gaze on themselves. Kate Leth, jumped in with her own superficial description of herself, prompting Reynolds to suggest, "new Twitter challenge: describe yourself like a male author would."
