The TVA Building from 'Loki' Is Actually a Marriott Hotel

If you’ve been watching Disney+’s latest Marvel series, Loki, you probably noticed the imposing modern architecture of the fictional Time Variance Authority Building, wherein Loki is held following an arrest for altering the set timelines of the universe (as one does). As it turns out, you can actually visit and stay at the TVA Building in real life, as it’s actually a Marriott hotel, located in Atlanta, Georgia.
Outside of the Marvel Universe, this 50-story building is known as the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, a 4-star hotel that happens to be the 14th tallest skyscraper in all of the Big Peach. And if it looks familiar, you may have also seen it in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, in which it acted as the Capitol’s tribute center. It even made an appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming, another Marvel production.
Designed by Atlanta architect John C. Portman, Jr.,—who designed numerous hotels for Marriott, Hyatt, and Westin throughout his career—the Atlanta Marriott Marquis is sometimes referred to as the “Coca Cola Building” and the “Pregnant Building” because of its protruding base. When this building’s construction was completed in 1985, its 470 foot-high atrium was the largest in the world, as it expands to the highest point of the building. It held this title until the 1990s, when the Burj Al Arab—a luxury hotel in Dubai—was completed.
If that wasn’t impressive enough, this 1,663-room hotel cost $150 million to construct, and it boasts numerous restaurants and bars, including the Sear Restaurant, High Velocity, Pulse, a pool bar, and a Starbucks. Additionally, the Atlanta Marriott Marquis will host the annual Dragon Con this September—as it typically does—which is the largest multi-media convention in existence, with a focus on comics, gaming, science fiction, art, music, literature, and film.
