Tua Tagovailoa's father: QB has broken left index finger
It’s safe to say Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has an injury on his left hand. Where that injury is depends on if you believe Nick Saban or Tagovailoa’s father.
Alabama’s title game star was injured in the Tide’s first spring practice of the season on Tuesday. After practice, Saban said Tagovailoa suffered an injury to the thumb on his throwing hand and could miss some practice time.
Tagovailoa’s father told KHON2 in Honolulu on Thursday that Tagovailoa suffered a broken index finger after hitting his hand on the helmet of a teammate.
“I asked how his hand was, and he said God is good and that the Holy Spirit is healing his hand,” said Galu Tagovailoa.
Galu Tagovailoa said Tua already had surgery on the finger and that he was taken directly from Alabama’s Tuesday practice to a hospital after the injury happened.
Tagovailoa was limited during Alabama’s practice on Thursday and had a glove on his left hand. He’s competing to be the team’s starting quarterback with Jalen Hurts, who will get the majority of first team snaps this spring during Tagovailoa’s absence.
