Trooping the Colour: Queen Elizabeth II Celebrates Her Birthday in a Lime Green Look

On Saturday, Queen Elizabeth II’s official 90th birthday was marked with the traditional ceremonial display: The annual Trooping the Colour parade. The event, which includes more than 1,600 soldiers and 300 horses, has been attended by the Queen every year of her reign (except in 1955 when a national rail strike resulted in the event’s cancellation).

It’s a very prestigious occasion and one that the entire royal family attends. So, from Her Majesty herself to the Duchess of Cambridge, here’s what everyone wore for the very big British event.

It’s her day and she’ll wear the brightest color scheme if she wants to! Sporting a lime green hat with fuchsia flowers with a matching coat over a floral dress, the 90-year-old stood out in more ways than one.

The Duchess of Cambridge, on the other hand, opted for a more neutral color palate and wore a white coat dress, the same Alexander McQueen number she wore for Princess Charlotte’s christening. She paired the sophisticated piece with a fun fascinator from famed milliner Philip Treacy that featured a large pink flower and had her hair styled in a side chignon.

The Duchess of Cornwall dressed in a similar fashion as her 34-year-old daughter-in-law, wearing a white and cream ensemble including gloves and a statement pearl choker.

Similar to Kate and Camilla, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, chose to wear pastel hues. She donned a pale blue coat dress with a feathered hairpiece. Meanwhile her 12-year-old daughter, Lady Louise, looked lovely in royal blue.

Following their grandmother’s lead, Princess Beatrice, recovering from being fashion-shamed just the day before for a “Storm Trooper” Burberry coat at the St. Paul’s Cathedral thanksgiving service, paired a navy blue sheath with a tangerine hat. Her sister, Princess Eugenie, also kept things simple in a moss green long-sleeved dress and a cylindrical hat adorned with purple feathers.
