We Tried Wendy's Breakfast Menu And Forgot About Every Other Fast Food Breakfast

From Delish

Our excitement has been at an all-time high since Wendy's announced earlier this month that it would FINALLY be launching its breakfast menu nationwide starting in March. Well, just about a week out from its release, we got to try tons of items from the menu and we can confirm it's really, really good. Like, about to be your new favorite breakfast good. Let's break it down, shall we?

The first thing you'll notice is this breakfast bench is DEEP. There are NINE breakfast options, plus drinks. That's a lot to choose between, but many are similar (sausage egg and cheese biscuit versus bacon egg and cheese biscuit, etc.), so try not to get too overwhelmed.

The first thing we tried was the Breakfast Potatoes. These kind of look like fries, but they taste a lot like home fries. They're crispy and remind me a lot of the outside of a potato skin, which I'm into. The seasoning on them is similar to an everything bagel (minus the poppy and sesame seeds) so these make a perfect side.

Next up is the star of the show: the Breakfast Baconator. Despite having read the description beforehand, I somehow expected this to simply be a HUGE bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. It's in fact pretty similar to the burger it's named after, with a sausage patty instead of beef, that's then topped with an egg, six strips of bacon, two slices of American cheese, and a Swiss cheese Hollandaise sauce. Yes, Hollandaise at a fast-food place.

Despite this being HUGE, it was delicious. If you live in New York City, you're going to pay like $15 for one of these in a super trendy café where the waiter is kind of mean to you for not dressing up for brunch. Not at Wendy's though! They don't judge us.

Next is my beloved Frosty-ccino. It's made up of a chocolate or vanilla Frosty mixed with cold brew and, as you might be able to tell, half of it was gone before I could take a picture. I am a black coffee drinker and I am obsessed with this. Plus, Wendy's says it's HALF the cals of a Starbucks Frappuccino, so I'll take two then...

Now that I've rambled about these three items, I'll give you the rest rapid-fire to spare us all some time: Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit? Incredible. Could feel it clogging all my arteries? Yes, but I loved it. Better chicken than I've ever had at a fast-food place? Perhaps.

The croissant sandwich is also truly a thing to behold. The flaky bread almost tasted like brioche, it was so pillowy and soft. I also tried the oatmeal bar, which you can see in a few of the photos above, which was good, but, let's face it, was a cookie!

All this to say, I definitely think Wendy's breakfast is worth a stop on your next road trip. It's just greasy enough that it scratches that itch for a yummy fast food breakfast (yes, it will suck up all those hard seltzers from last night...), but high-end enough that it will taste good on any average work day too.

You can find these at Wendy's near you starting March 2, if not already. Now excuse me, I need to grab a Frosty-ccino for the road...
