We Tried 12 Flavors Of Dole Whip At Disney World, And This Is Our Top Pick

You visit Disney World or Disneyland for loads of reasons: the rides, the nostalgia, the characters, the kids in your life who are begging to go. But you must never forget the incredible food! With so many options available throughout the parks, you can snack all day long and never have the same thing twice. One of our favorite sweet treats at Disney World in Orlando is a Dole Whip, which is generally a pineapple soft serve that’s served in a cup, or as a float with pineapple juice.

Over the past few years, Disney World has introduced more Dole Whip concoctions at the parks and resorts, including boozy, adults-only options. Since first appearing at Magic Kingdom in 1984, Dole Whip has taken over the snack scene. As you walk through Adventureland, there’s no doubt you’ll see plenty of other guests walking around bearing spoons and cups of bright yellow swirls.

We decided to create an official Delish ranking of Dole Whips, as there are nine different flavors of Dole Whip out there to try, as well as loads of other syrups and add-ons. Those perfectly tropical flavors include mango, lemon, orange, raspberry, strawberry, lime, cherry, watermelon, and the iconic pineapple, all of which happen to be dairy-free and vegan. Even though Disney World doesn’t sell all of the flavors at all times, you can get most of them at the Most Magical Place on Earth.

Without further ado, these are the best Dole Whips at Disney World, ranked in ascending order.

10. Dole Whip Pineapple featuring Sour Apple-Flavored Syrup, from Tamu Tamu Refreshments in the Animal Kingdom

First off, I just have to say that no Dole Whip is actually bad. But one of these flavors has to come in last, and this is mine. I had high hopes for this Dole Whip because I love sour apple-flavored things, but that's precisely why it's at the bottom—there was simply not enough sour apple punch for me. The sweet pineapple taste from the soft serve just took over, so this option tasted like a regular pineapple Dole Whip in a cup, which can be enjoyed elsewhere at a cheaper price.

9. Strawberry Dole Whip with Optional Chocolate Soft Serve, from Sunshine Tree Terrace in Magic Kingdom

When I mobile-ordered this Dole Whip swirl at Magic Kingdom, I was very excited because chocolate and strawberry is one of my favorite combinations, but this iteration fell flat. I assumed the cup would be a swirl of fruity strawberry Dole Whip and sweet chocolate soft serve, but what I was handed was not that. My cup came with strawberry Dole Whip on the bottom, then a serving of chocolate soft serve on top. Though the flavors tasted great on their own, it was challenging to get both in one bite, which is what I really wanted.

8. Dole Whip Orange and Vanilla Swirl, from Sunshine Tree Terrace in Magic Kingdom

If you love creamsicles, you’re going to want to get this Dole Whip swirl from Sunshine Tree Terrace. The orange Dole Whip has a strong citrus flavor without tasting fake, and when that’s paired with vanilla soft serve it’s a match made in Disney heaven. I liked that this was actually a swirl, and not just two flavors of soft serve piled on top of each other like the aforementioned strawberry-chocolate situation. If you really want to feel the Magic Kingdom nostalgia, you can also get this dish served in an adorable Orange Bird sipper, which makes for great Instagram or TikTok content, too.

7. Dole Whip Raspberry, from Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom

Dole Whip Raspberry is an unexpected dark horse in the race for the number one Dole Whip. It tasted like I'd just popped a handful of ripe raspberries in my mouth: sweet and tart, without being sour or otherwise off-putting. While you have the option to swirl raspberry with Dole Whip Pineapple, I chose to go with just the one flavor to see what it truly tasted like. I think next time, I would go with the swirl, because after a few bites of raspberry it started to taste very one-note, and I think the pineapple would have cut through some of the tartness better.

6. Dole Whip Lime, from Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

One of the only places that currently serves Dole Whip Lime is Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and the variation of the classic can be served in a cup, float, or as a swirl. I chose to get a cup, mainly because the idea of lime soft serve and pineapple juice as a float just didn't sound great to me. The lime flavor is prominent and tastes slightly sour, like most fresh limes do. On a hot Florida day, a lime Dole Whip would definitely hit the spot, though—a refreshing treat to eat by the pool or on the beach of the resort.

5. Pineapple Float: Pineapple Juice served with Dole Whip Pineapple, from Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

The middle ground Dole Whip, and the version I judged everything else against, is the Pineapple Float. This treat was my long-time personal favorite before beginning this experiment. I love the classic pineapple Dole Whip that’s partially submerged in sweet pineapple juice. After the soft serve melts a little bit, I like to drink the resulting mixture with a straw to ensure I get every last drop of the tropical goodness. While you can get this float at Magic Kingdom, the best spot is at the resort across the lagoon. Not only will the little trip give you a break from the park, but it’s also a nice spot to grab lunch from the neighboring quick service location.

4. Kakamora Dole Whip: Dole Whip Pineapple with Chocolate-dipped Pretzels and a White Chocolate Kakamora, from Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

One of my favorite Disney movies is Moana, so when I saw the Kakamora Dole Whip as the special at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, I knew I needed to try it. To be clear, this dish is just the traditional pineapple or pineapple-vanilla swirl soft serve, but in a waffle cup with a few fun toppings to make it look like those pesky coconuts from the movie. But I have to say, the waffle cone and chocolate-covered pretzels added a much-needed textural contrast to the Dole Whip. I often find myself looking for something crunchy or salty after having a Dole Whip, and this version has all of that. And honestly, it’s just really cute with the addition of the white chocolate Kakamora piece, too.

3. Snow White Cone: Dole Whip Lemon, Blue Cone, Chocolate Bird, and a Sugar Bow, from Storybook Treats in Magic Kingdom

Dole Whip Lemon is a delightful treat on a hot day. The refreshing lemon taste of this Snow White-themed cone is complemented with a chocolate bird and red sugar bow, which together help create those OG princess vibes. The cone was crunchy and far from stale, which helped break this Dole Whip into the top three. Before hopping in line for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, be sure to grab this Dole Whip to enjoy while you wait.

2. Simba Sunset: Dole Whip Pineapple with Watermelon, Strawberry, and Coconut-flavored Syrup, from Tamu Tamu Refreshments in Animal Kingdom

Just barely missing the top spot is the Simba Sunset Dole Whip. This cup of happiness starts with a big swirl of Dole Whip Pineapple, laced with a sweet and fruity syrup that tastes like a combination of watermelon, strawberry, and coconut. I loved this treat because you do get all of the tropical flavors from the syrup without drowning out the pineapple flavor of the soft serve. I also loved the color contrast of the bright yellow Dole Whip against the hot pink fruit syrup.

1. Coconut Cup: Choice of Coconut or Coconut and Dole Whip Pineapple Swirl, from Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom

The number one Dole Whip on the Delish list is the Coconut Cup at Magic Kingdom. The only way this is technically a Dole Whip is if the coconut gets swirled with Dole Whip Pineapple, which is exactly what I opted for. The treat tasted like a frozen piña colada, and was just so delectable and refreshing. I heard a lot of hype about this option before trying it and after getting my hands on one, I have to say I get it. If you’re only going to try one Dole Whip at Disney World, this is the one to get.

Honorable Mentions:

Disney cupcakes are another one of my favorite treats, so when I stumbled across the 50th Celebration Cupcake (a vanilla cupcake with Dole Whip Pineapple center, tropical fruit salsa, and a pineapple macaron) at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort I needed to try it out. After cutting into the cupcake I found plenty of filling that tasted exactly like the frozen Dole Whips that are served next door at Pineapple Lanai, but in a thick custard-like filling. The addition of the fruit salsa and pineapple macaron just took this over the top.

Boozy Dole Whips are an adult must-have while on vacation at Disney World and the best one is the Frozcato at Wine Bar George in Disney Springs. The Frozcato is made with a blend of Dole Whip Pineapple, Moscato wine, and vodka. The sweet drink is perfect with the restaurant’s signature weekend brunch, or to buy from the to-go window and enjoy while walking around Disney Springs. The slushy consistency keeps this drink from melting too quickly in the warm sun, too.
