There are a lot of things that can land you in jail, and now you can add a hot-air balloon to that list.
Security was on high alert at the Ajmer jail in Rajasthan, lndia after a hot air balloon landed on the grounds. The balloon was carrying two West Indian tourists, who originally boarded the flying object to get a bird’s-eye view of the annual Camel Fair in Pushkar.
Instead, their balloon was blown off course, and the pilot, Dhawal Kedar, decided to touch down inside of the jail. The sisters had no idea where they landed, but authorities originally suspected that they had come to rescue inmates. According to reports, the prisoners were in the barracks at the time, but officials didn’t want take any chances. The tourists were detained and questioned for two hours until authorities were positive that the incident was purely an accident.
All hot-air balloon rides over the fair have been canceled to prevent this from happening again.
A case has been filed against the tour operator for “unlawful entry” into jail premises. Its license has also been revoked.
