Once Stranger Things 4 Volume 2 premieres, we’ll probably have to wait another year or two before the final season comes to Netflix. In the meantime, you might be looking for another show to help fill the void until we see the Hawkins crew again. Here, enters Amazon Prime’s new young adult series, Paper Girls.

This week, Prime Video released the first teaser trailer for the new young adult series. The trailer starts with our main leads, Erin Tieng (Riley), Tiffany Quilkin (Camryn Jones), Mac Coyle (Sofia Rosinsky) and KJ Brandman (Fina Strazza), staring up at a cloudy purple sky.

Instantly, it’s like we’re transported to an alternative world—similar to the Upside Down in Stranger Things. If that connection weren’t enough, the series also takes place in the 1980s. As the video continues, we’re introduced to Erin Tieng (played by Ali Wong), who encounters her younger self in a kitchen. That’s when the adventure truly begins.

Based on the best-selling graphic novel written by Brian K. Vaughn, Paper Girls follows a group of friends who are transported from the year 1988 to 2015. Per the logline, the girls are being hunted by time-travelers called the Old Watch, who use “outlawed time travel so that they can stay in power.” As they try to return to the past, they must “overcome their differences” and “learn to trust each other.”

With the ‘80s nostalgia, sci-fi themes and coming-of-age storyline, this show would be perfect for Stranger Things fans. So, if you happen to finish Stranger Things 4 Vol. 2 a bit early, be sure to add Paper Girls to your queue as it comes out on July 29 on Prime Video.
