Toronto crash: Multiple pedestrians struck by vehicle at College and Bay

Multiple pedestrians were struck by a vehicle in downtown Toronto on Thursday.

The major crash, which happened at around 3.20pm ET at the corner of Bay and College, saw five women and a baby injured.

One of the victims is said to be in a critical but stable condition. The intersection will remain closed for rush-hour while investigations take place.

Sgt. Brett Moore, with Traffic Services, said in a Twitter video that it appears one driver "violated a light," setting off the chain of collisions.

Police have shut the intersection down and TTC service is being diverted.

A Toronto Paramedics told Global News they transported a person to a trauma centre in critical condition and two others were taken to hospital in serious condition.

Toronto Fire Services said a female was unconscious with life-threatening injuries. Another female sustained undisclosed minor injuries and a third person sustained arm and leg injuries.

People are urged to avoid the area.
