Tori Kelly Discharged From Hospital After Health Scare, New EP ‘Tori’ Drops To Acclaim

Singer Tori Kelly is back home after her recent health scare, just as her new EP, Tori, is now out.
TMZ reports the singer was discharged from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Monday after being hospitalized with blood clots.
On July 23, Kelly was rushed to the hospital after “passing out” during dinner with friends. After being admitted, doctors reportedly found blood clots around her vital organs.
While medical professionals reportedly didn’t determine the cause of the blood clots, sources told the outlet Kelly is feeling better. She will continue to receive follow-up care and monitoring on her road to recovery.
As Blavity previously reported, the “Paper Hearts” singer and her husband, André Murillo, kept fans up to date with her recovery via Instagram.
Murillo posted several positive updates regarding his wife, including an IG Story stating she was “smiling and feeling stronger.”
Later that week, Kelly posted a handwritten letter to her fans, updating them on her health and music.
“As you may have heard, I’m dealing with some unexpected health challenges,” she said at the time. “It’s been a scary few days but I can feel your prayers and can’t stop thinking about you.”
After thanking the medical staff for caring for her, the Grammy-winning artist admitted how her health scare affected her plans to release her self-titled EP.
“Of course, I’m heartbroken about all the things I had planned for this week of releasing my E.P., but I know my health must come first,” she continued.
The 30-year-old songstress was slated to perform on Friday at The Roxy in Los Angeles following the project’s release.
Although she couldn’t perform at The Roxy, the singer didn’t let the “hurdle” prevent her from releasing the seven-track EP on July 28.
The lead single, “Missin U,” dropped in March and has had fans on the edge of their seats awaiting new music from the singer. Kelly jumps into her R&B bag with the project featuring production from heavy hitters such as Timbaland and Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. The EP also includes features from Ayra Starr and Jon Bellion.
According to RatedRnB, some of the standout tracks on the project include “Shelter” and the 2000s-inspired “Cut.”
Tori is Kelly’s first project since her 2020 holiday album, A Tori Kelly Christmas. In 2019, the singer picked up two Grammys for best gospel album and best gospel song.
