The long-awaited sequel to the 1986 "Top Gun" film finally made its way to theaters over Memorial Day weekend — and as expected, "Top Gun: Maverick" soared to No. 1 at the box office. Starring Tom Cruise, Jon Hamm, Jay Ellis and Jennifer Connelly, CNN reports the movie raked in an estimated $156 million stateside for its four-day opening.

Microsoft teased the video game shortly before the "Top Gun: Maverick" theatrical release — the trailer gave viewers a taste of various aircrafts accompanied by the familiar score heard in the flick.
