The toilet is one of the most important parts of a bathroom and yet we constantly overlook it while decorating. It's time we put an end to that and start personalizing our potties. After all, something that we use several times a day should at least be nice to look at. And be honest: nothing feels better than having guests tell you that your toilet looks gorgeous, right? We asked top designers for their tips and tricks on decorating a toilet. You're welcome!

Add a wreath

"A wreath is the perfect way to add a pop of color," says designer Jack Whittle. He suggests placing the wreath on the tank of the toilet using adhesive hooks. "Plus, it's a great way to decorate for different holidays," he adds.

Hang a photo

Designer Colleen Bell adorns the toilet in her own en suite bathroom with a family photo. "What better time to be reminded of the ones you love than while using the bathroom?"

Put a skirt on it

Conceal your toilet's bulky base by putting a skirt on it. "Right now my toilet is rocking a pink floral number," says Sarah Langley, who recommends tapping your custom upholsterer for the job.

Wrap it up

On a budget? Don't fret—there are still plenty of ways you can jazz up your toilet without breaking the bank. As interior designer Alfie Richards tells us, wrapping paper is a quick and easy way to transform your throne from drab to fab. Plus, you can switch up the occasion! "I bought my toilet last February, so this February, I decided to do something fun and dress it up in 'Happy Birthday' paper," he tells us, joking "It loved the sentiment — it didn't clog the entire month."

Editor's Note: Gotcha! This has been an April Fools joke. At House Beautiful we don't just love home decorating, we love jokes, too! But if you want to decorate your toilet, we won't judge.
