The Top 2 Trending Hairstyles for 2023 Are Actually Super Easy to Recreate at Home
It’s hard to believe that we’ve entered the final stretch of 2022, but rather than dwell on the mind-boggling passage of time, let’s look forward to 2023 and the fresh new trends that will come with it. In particular, we’ve noticed two rising hair trends that we’ll see more of in the new year, and they couldn’t be more different from each other.
The First Look: Wet Hair

The wet hair look is currently trending, as seen on 2023 runways, red carpets and most recently, at the CFDA awards. This sleek style is a great last-minute option for a special event as it doesn’t involve too many intricate steps or styling prowess. (If it goes beyond a three-strand braid, we’re out.)

Though it’s on the easier side to recreate, there are a few key things to keep in mind to avoid looking like you just left the house with soaking-wet strands. First, you want to apply a gel or styling cream to damp hair—not water, as the name implies. Apply the product evenly, starting at the roots, and comb it down the lengths. Option to add a light misting of shine spray or oil to get an even wetter looking, glossy finish.

The Second Look: Fluffed Out Curls

Taking a cue from the ‘80s perms, we’re seeing a turn toward teased out tresses (as seen at the Tom Ford and Fendi Spring/Summer 2023 shows). Think: Fluffed out volume and texture, paired with an exaggerated side part.

If you have a naturally curly texture, you’re in luck. All you need is some smoothing serum to prep your strands before teasing them out with a diffuser. For our straight-haired friends, we’d recommend using a hair waver or crimping tool to get a similar effect.
