Tom Holland Goes Full Action Star in UNCHARTED’s Final Trailer

Movies based on video games, even the most popular games, don’t have the best track record. But if you’re hoping to be one of the rare breakthrough adaptations that scores on the big screen, casting Tom Holland as your lead is a good way to find success. And in the latest trailer for the long (LONG) awaited Uncharted movie with him as Nathan Drake, he’ll have to work hard to find his own fortune. Tom Holland goes full action star in the final trailer for the film.

We’ve been hearing about this movie for so long it’s hard to believe it exists. We first reported on this particular adaptation in 2017. That’s when Tom Holland was first announced as Uncharted’s leading man. But attempts at bringing the popular video game franchise to the screen go back even longer. We’re not going to declare it was or wasn’t worth the wait based on a single trailer. Especially when we’ve had our own concerns about the film. But there are definitely reasons to be optimistic, even beyond its star. It looks like it will certainly be big on action and has a great supporting cast to boot. And it will take us all around the world. Here’s the film’s official synopsis from Sony:

Based on one of the best-selling, most critically acclaimed video game series of all time, Uncharted introduces audiences to the young street-smart Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) and showcases his first treasure hunting adventure with wisecracking partner Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg). In an action-adventure epic that spans the globe, the two go in dangerous pursuit of ‘the greatest treasure never found’ while also tracking clues that may lead to Nathan’s long-lost brother.

Mark Wahlberg playing a character named Sully also feels like a development long overdue.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer (Venom, Zombieland: Double Tap), the film also stars Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle, and Antonio Banderas. It arrives in theaters February 18. At least that’s the plan right now. With this movie we won’t actually believe it until we see it. Hopefully it will be worth the very, very, very long wait.
