I'm slightly embarrassed to admit I was today years old when I learned Meat Free Monday is not just a hashtag but a full-fledged non-profit campaign led by none other than Paul, Linda, and Mary McCartney. Launched in 2009, the organization is celebrating its 10th birthday this month and has spent the last decade raising "awareness of the detrimental environmental impact of animal agriculture and industrial fishing."

Per the McCartney's website:

The campaign encourages people to help slow climate change, conserve precious natural resources and improve their health by having at least one plant-based day each week.

To celebrate its birthday, the organization put together a star-studded video featuring Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Paul Rudd, Ringo Starr, Isla Fisher, and Alec Baldwin among others. Orlando Bloom, Ellie Goulding, and Alicia Silverstone are on board, too. Tom and Rita, being the angels that they are, posted their own video to Twitter talking about the cause.

Speaking in unison (God please protect this couple at all costs!!!), the two said this: "Happy birthday to Meat Free Monday! Doing without meat is good for the planet and the animals we share it with, but it is also good for our health."

They explained that for those who aren't full-fledged vegetarians or vegans, it's "nice to do with less meat." Plus, as Tom says, "it's actually a very simple and easy thing to do." If Woody says it, it must be so.

As for the Beatle's thoughts on his campaign's anniversary, Paul said this in a statement:

10 years of Meat Free Monday – I can’t believe it! It’s beautiful, and the support we’ve had from all these lovely people – you and all the other lovely people – it’s been great. It’s a simple idea that people have caught onto. They love it, we love it, the planet loves it, everybody loves it, the animals love it. It’s Meat Free Monday – happy 10 years.
