Cruise's 'Top Gun: Maverick' cast members had some surprising things to say about him.

Tom Cruise is known for being charismatic and charming, and his Top Gun: Maverick co-stars seem to think the same.

But in an interview with E! News at the Golden Globes, two of Cruise's cast members shared a surprising fact about the action star.

Jay Ellis, who played Lt. Reuben 'Payback' Fitch in the 2022 film, said of Cruise, "He's actually got an amazing sense of humor. I think most people wouldn't expect that."

While you could argue that Cruise has dabbled in comedy throughout his long acting career, he's generally stayed in the drama and action genres.

But according to Ellis and fellow cast member Glen Powell, who portrayed Lt. Jake 'Hangman' Seresin in Top Gun: Maverick, Cruise would do a great job in comedy films.

With any luck, Cruise fans will get to see this secret side of the actor in future projects, as the 60-year-old consistently proves how adaptable he is in his career.

Ellis and Powell also touched on what it was like to personally work with the Mission: Impossible star, with the former sharing that he was "everything you would imagine."

Powell echoed that sentiment, saying, "Doesn't get any better than Tom. He's as cool as it gets."

Although leading a comedy film is a challenge Cruise is yet to take on, he certainly isn't afraid to take other risks, performing huge stunts for the Mission: Impossible films.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One will feature what Paramount Pictures called "the biggest stunt in cinema history," which has Cruise riding a motorcycle off of a cliff into a BASE jump.

He always prefers to do the stunts himself when he can, even after one stunt for the sixth film in the series went wrong and ended with Cruise breaking an ankle, requiring weeks to heal.
