Tom Bergeron Will No Longer Host 'Dancing With The Stars,' and Fans Are LIVID
What is Dancing With the Stars without the light-hearted, slightly-sarcastic host, Tome Bergeron? That's a question fans will be forced to answer when DWTS returns in the fall. On Monday, Bergeron announced he would no longer be hosting the long-running ballroom dance competition.
"Just informed @DancingABC will be continuing without me," the longtime host write on Twitter Monday evening. "It's been an incredible 15 year run and the most unexpected gift of my career. I'm grateful for that and for the lifelong friendships made."
Of course, Bergeron couldn't end his message without a hint of humor, asking followers, "what am I supposed to do with all of these glitter masks?"

Although Bergeron did not specify why he was being let go (it may not even be clear to him, after all), ABC and BBC Studios released a joint statement addressing the firing. “Tom Bergeron will forever be part of the Dancing with the Stars family. As we embark on a new creative direction, he departs the show with our sincerest thanks and gratitude for his trademark wit and charm that helped make this show a success," the statement read, according to TV Line.
It is possible that Bergeron and the show execs had reached a creative crossroads and could no longer continue working together. Last season, Bergeron was open about his disappointment in the show's decision to cast former White House press secretary Sean Spicer.
Whatever the reason, fans are not pleased with the networks' decision to let go of Bergeron, who has been the one consistency in a show that is constantly tweaking its formula.
"Tom, us fans LOVED having you as our host for dancing with the stars," Twitter user berstenbenae wrote. "This is so upsetting but it’s their loss. we adore you always! thank you."

Many even suggested they would stop watching the series altogether.
"Not gonna lie you are the only reason I kept watching the past few years when it started to tank," Twitter user @savi1980 wrote. "Now a LOT of people won't be watching. 'Good decision' @DancingABC -100000000 on my paddle board."

That means I’m done with the show! You’ve been the only thing keeping it going since the “celebs” have been mostly reality TV castoffs.

But many fans kept it positive, sending Bergeron nothing but love and thanks for his years of hosting.
"Your funny quips, delightful jokes & contagious laugh are impossible to replace," Twitter user jodijill wrote. "All the fans will be following you to your next big opportunity. And if you decide to write a behind the scenes DWTS book put me down for a copy! You got to have some GREAT stories!"

And for those hoping 10-season co-host Erin Andrews would still be in the ballroom this season, there is even more disappointing news, as the studios announced "Erin will also not be returning, and we appreciate all that she brought to the ballroom. Fans have been rooting for her since she originally competed as a contestant back in 2010, and her signature sense of humor has become a hallmark of the show.”
There is no news yet on who will replace Bergeron and Andrews, but needless to say whoever is chosen will have some very big shoes to fill.
