FRANK SCHWAB: The Atlanta Falcons moved fast, signing Todd Gurley to a one-year deal just a day after the Rams cut him. It was an expected move, considering the Falcons just cut Devonta Freeman and Gurley played college ball at the University of Georgia.

It's an interesting move for the Falcons who have a very good offense coming into this season. Matt Ryan's still the quarterback, Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley on the outside, and now Gurley could try to revitalize his career. He actually looked pretty good with the Rams late last season once the Rams took the playing time restrictions off.

Early in the year, Gurley wasn't playing as much as he used to. The Rams stopped doing that late in the season. They gave Gurley a lot of carries. And he looked pretty good. That's what made the Rams move on Thursday so surprising when they cut him.

Gurley still seems like he has some left in the tank. He's only 25 years old. The knee issues have been a problem, but he looked healthy late last season. Another full offseason to get healthy. Maybe he can have a good season, hit free agency again, and see what happens.

But this is a very interesting fit with the Falcons. And Gurley could have a nice season and a pretty good offense.
