Hoda Made Five-Word Acceptance Speech At Webby Awards

Upon receiving the illustrious podcasting award, Hoda made a five-word acceptance speech at the ceremony — a winners’ tradition at the quirky awards show.

Hoda kept it short and sweet, emphasizing the theme of “Making Space” and her outlook in general: “Okay, five words, this is tough…Listen, and love, love love. Bye!!”

The “Making Space” team won the award in the individual episodes category for an inspiring and thoughtful conversation between Hoda and Viola Davis, which included such deep topics as finding yourself, overcoming trauma, and shaping a positive future.

The TODAY with Hoda and Jenna host posted several photos from the event to Instagram, including other members of the "Making Space" team and captioning the pics, "Team #makingspace Congrats @missalib @minkat88 @soundslikebry on the @thewebbyawards Oh hi @traceeellisross congrats to you too!" The latter comment referred to fellow winner, actress Tracee Ellis Ross, who also picked up an award for Special Achievement at the Webbys.

More Milestones For Hoda And The Gang At TODAY

The big Webby win isn't the only recent achievement for the TODAY crew, and even Hoda herself. The longtime broadcaster celebrated 25 years at NBC just last month, with TODAY co-hosts Savannah Guthrie, Craig Melvin, Al Roker, and Carson Daly marking the occasion by playing throwback clip of her first appearance at the news desk.

Hoda also commemorated four years of TODAY with Hoda and Jenna on April 7th, along with co-host Jenna Bush Hager. Hoda and Jenna reflected on the years leading TODAY's fourth hour segment together in a sweet celebration:

"I can't believe it's been four years," marveled Hoda, to which Jenna replied, "No, it's gone by so fast...but we've also experienced a lot!" The co-hosts recalled dealing with absences from the show — Hoda while adopting a child, Jenna while pregnant with her own, and of course, all of the pandemic difficulties.

Hoda summed up her happiness at the milestone achievement: "You know what it is? I think when there is something that's real, you are not's easy. You have to go through life and do things you have to do, but this is not that. This is the best."
