Fans of the Today show are convinced there's drama behind the scenes due to the prolonged and unexplained absence of Hoda Kotb—not to mention the fact that Savannah Guthrie left Tuesday's episode early.

According to Us Weekly, who first reported on Savannah's early departure, fans began asking questions after she left within the first hour of Tuesday's broadcast. Sheinelle Jones told viewers about her departure at 7:41 am, simply saying “Willie joins us in for Savannah who had to leave a little early this morning.”

Meanwhile, Hoda hasn't been on Today for over a week, and viewers have been speculating about what's going on behind the scenes of the show. One person tweeted "7:30 and Savannah had to 'leave early'? Al sits in till Willie can get there. Hoda has been mia with no explanation. Something's happening at Today Show."

Other fan reactions included "And Willie didn't hang out for long. Seriously @TODAYshow, stop treating your viewers like children," as well as "I hope @SavannahGuthrie is okay. @TODAYshow you can’t keep doing this to me. No @hodakotb Now no Savannah? Thank God you have @craigmelvin@SheinelleJones and @WillieGeist."

While Today seemingly hasn't commented on Hoda's absence, they confirmed that Savannah had tested positive for COVID-19. Sheinelle Jones updated fans, saying "By the way, it has been an interesting morning for us. As we said, Savannah left early, she wasn't feeling great, so she took a Covid test. It came back positive. So, of course, as soon as we found out, she rushed home to rest up. So Savannah, we love you, wishing you a speedy recovery."
