Tucked away in the Kerhonkson woods at the base of the Catskill Mountains is a cozy cabin that's perfect for a retreat to the great outdoors. Highlighting all the features that make the aptly named Tiny Catskill Cabin ideal for a weekend getaway, our host Kirby Porterfield takes you inside the Airbnb during the second episode of House Beautiful's Dream Rentals series.

The exterior of the home is all original, so it looks like an idyllic wood cabin from the outside. However, the cabin's owners, Emily Tillery and Justin Johnson, decided update the home's interiors with new appliances to provide guests with modern amenities. That includes a full bathroom (with a tub and shower!), a full kitchen, WiFi, and even a washer and a dryer. While every single appliance has been updated, the interior still feels like a rustic cabin thanks to thoughtful details like the vintage oven and wood paneling.

On the first floor is a multi-functional living area with a sofa bed, seating, and a TV. Across the living space the kitchen is stocked with all the appliances and utensils you need to cook a meal. You'll even find tea, coffee, and hot chocolate next to the mugs. Off the corner of the living space is a small office with huge windows, so you have the option of getting some work done with a great view of nature. As Porterfield says, the cabin is the perfect combo of a work and play retreat.

Featuring plenty of options for comfortable sleeping arrangements, the cabin can sleep up to six people. Along with the sofa in the living room, there's a sofa bed and a queen-size bed upstairs. They're both situated under large skylights that let you gaze up at the stars as you fall asleep.

While it is a tiny house, guests won't feel cramped, thanks to a stunning three-season patio that doubles the cabin's living space. Furnished with comfy seating and a fireplace, it's the perfect space to unwind with a cup of coffee or a cocktail. Steps away from the patio is an inviting outdoor space with a charcoal grill and a 4-seat patio table. Plus, there's a cozy campsite with benches, a hammock, and a fire pit—prefect for making S'mores.

Ideal for guests who love outdoor activities, the cabin is just a short drive from Minnewaska State Park Preserve, which is home to scenic hiking trails, great rock climbing spots, and sparkling waterfalls. Nearby, guests can also explore New Paltz and Woodstock, charming towns with cute stores and restaurants.

So what's Porterfield's rating of the cabin? Five out of five "really cool, old ovens." She wasn't the only one who was charmed by the Tiny Catskill Cabin. On Airbnb, it has more than 200 glowing reviews and a total average rating of 4.95 stars. After watching Porterfield's tour and reading through the reviews, it's easy to see why the cabin has earned an Airbnb Plus badge, which is awarded to high quality homes with thoughtful design and great reviews. Former guests loved that the cabin is clean, stylish, and cozy. They also appreciated that it was easy to communicate with Tillery, who is an Airbnb Superhost.
