Tina Fey and Busy Philipps to Co-Host "Mean Girls" Facebook Live Viewing Party on October 3
When Lindsay Lohan uttered the words “On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was” while filming Mean Girls over 15 years ago, she unintentionally created a national holiday. Enter Mean Girls Day, in celebration of that fateful math class when Aaron Samuels asked Cady Heron the date. Every year, fans flock to social media to share the gif of that precious moment, or reminisce about the hit 2004 film and all of its quotable lines.
If you still feel the urge to wear pink on Wednesdays, you’re going to want to listen carefully to this news, because this year’s Mean Girls Day is going to be extra special. According to Entertainment Weekly, Tina Fey and Busy Philipps will be co-hosting a Mean Girls viewing party via Facebook Live on October 3 starting at 8 p.m. ET. The streaming event will be presented by Paramount Pictures in partnership with the Mean Girls Broadway musical, and you’ll be able to follow along at the musical's official Facebook page.
Fans can tune in to watch the movie alongside Philipps and Fey, the latter of whom wrote the 2004 screenplay and starred as Cady’s math teacher. Ms. Norbury. And that’s not all: EW reports that fans will be able to compete for prizes, test their Plastics knowledge with Mean Girls trivia, and ask questions of the two co-hosts. One lucky viewer will even receive a mysterious grand prize — so you’d better start reviewing all your grool lingo now.
Despite the fact that it’s been more than a decade (!!) since Mean Girls debuted in movie theaters around the country, its impact continues to be felt. From Ariana Grande’s Regina George-inspired music video to adorable cast reunions, it’s clear that the Plastics’ legacy will live on for a long, long time. Even Regina might be able to agree: that’s pretty darn fetch.
