It may be a little too early to say, but Prince George, who turns 9 on July 22, certainly has a lot of the makings of an excellent future king. And he has his parents to thank for that!
According to multiple sources, the young royal is adventurous, kind and sociable. When he’s not exploring the outdoors and chatting about sports, he’s begun raising money for a charity that’s close to his dad’s heart.
“My parents taught me about the importance of qualities like kindness, respect, and honesty, and I realize how central values like these have been to me throughout my life. That is why William and I want to teach our little children, George and Charlotte, just how important these things are as they grow up,” Kate explained during her visit to Mitchell Brook Primary School in February 2017, per US Weekly. “In my view it is just as important as excelling at maths or sport.”
Prince George and his siblings are not only learning about the importance of kindness, they’re also being taught to articulate their emotions — which is such a crucial skill for every single person to have. “We hope to encourage George and Charlotte to speak about their feelings, and to give them the tools and sensitivity to be supportive peers to their friends as they get older,” Kate noted in an essay for Huffington Post UK in 2016. “We know there is no shame in a young child struggling with their emotions or suffering from a mental illness.”
In celebration of George’s big birthday, we’re breaking down all the reasons we think he’ll make a great king someday.

Taking on a key coronationrole
Prince George was in impeccably responsible and mature Page of Honor at King Charles III’s coronation. He attended to his grandfather during the ceremony and joined in the procession through Westminster Abbey.

Putting his charitable footforward
Prince William and Kate Middleton are clearly raising their son right! The young monarch knows the importance of good causes at an early age, holding a bake sale to support one of his dad’s favorite charities, Tusk, an organization that supports endangered animals in Africa.
“Prince George very sweetly did a little cake sale to raise money for Tusk during lockdown and wrote a very sweet card about it, clearly demonstrating his concern for Africa’s wildlife,” Charlie Mayhew, chief executive of Tusk, told The Independent.
That’s definitely some future king behavior right there.

He’s courteous to atee
So much about being a good royal is following customary traditions, and minding your p’s and q’s wherever you go. Prince George is reportedly being schooled on all the basics by his parents.
In the Channel 5 documentary Diana: Queen of Hearts?, royal author Andrew Morton noted that “table manners, thank-you letters and little courtesies are being drilled into the children so they become automatic.”
Looks like Prince George will be ready for so many of those fancy events, trips and the day-to-day Kensington life in no time.

He’s pretty down-to-earth
Or at least as down-to-earth as possible for a little prince! When George becomes a leader, he won’t be just a regular king, he’ll be a cool king. His parents have tried to instill as many normal practices in his life as possible.
Dance parties are apparently a big thing in the royal household. “Most mornings there’s a massive fight between Charlotte and George as to what song is played in the morning,” William said on an episode of Apple Fitness+’s Time to Walk series last year. “And I have to, now, basically prioritize that one day someone does this one, and another day it’s someone else’s turn. So George gets his go, then Charlotte gets her go. Such is the clamor for the music.”

He’s a socialbutterfly
Once Prince George becomes king, he’ll have to meet lots and lots of people, attend many, many parties and get used to a whole lot of hand shaking. It sounds like the young one is already on his way when it comes to the sociability factor.
A source told US Weekly that George is a “well-grounded down-to-earth little boy,” adding that he’s “very sociable and can chat for hours about his favorite soccer players, plus he loves rugby, cricket, all forms of sports really.”
We like to think that George inherited those qualities directly from his parents. In fact, many people who have met Prince William and Kate Middleton have commented on their very likable presence. “There’s a special lustre [about William and Kate] that you just can’t recreate,” Stephen Fry told BBC in 2011. “If they managed to reproduce Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable, and they came in the room at one end and the Cambridges came in at the other, all of Hollywood would be staring at the Cambridges…they have a very particular charisma.”

He’s a family guy through andthrough
Prince George will undoubtably be a great patriarch for the royal family — because he’s already such a solid leader for his siblings. “He’s very protective of his younger siblings and goes out of his way to help his mother with the household chores, especially when it earns him extra time on electronics!” the source told Us Weekly.
Kate has been open about the various chores that George is given around the house — including moving animal feed on the family’s estate. Excellent prep for a very down-to-earth king!

He’s adventurous
Part of the royal deal is exciting travel and new experiences in foreign places. Prince George seems to have gotten the exploring bug from Prince William and Kate, who frequently take to the countryside and enjoy outdoor pursuits.
According to US Weekly, George is “super outdoorsy and adventurous.” Over the recent Easter holidays, his parents took the whole family to the French Alps, where George competed against his sister Charlotte in brother/sister ski races. How fun!
