Tim Tebow Is Engaged to Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters
The new year is starting off on a happy note for Tim Tebow. The professional athlete took to Instagram on Thursday, January 10, to announce that he’s engaged to Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters.
Tebow shared three photos from the day of the proposal. In the first, Nel-Peters stands beneath a wooden arch adorned with flowers, as her fiancé kneels before her with a ring. The second and third pics were taken after she said yes, and feature a close-up look at her massive diamond.
“Thank you for saying YES and making me the happiest man in the world,” Tebow captioned the post. “You’re the love of my life, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Nel-Peters posted the trio of images to her Instagram, too, along with a caption directed at her future husband. “Any dreams I’ve ever had, you’ve exceeded them all!” she gushed. “I love you and I can’t wait to spend forever with you!”
The New York Mets minor leaguer first revealed that he was in a relationship with the former Miss South Africa last summer, when he told ESPN, “She is a really special girl and I am very lucky and blessed for her coming into my life. I am usually very private with these things but I am very thankful.”
The two have regularly appeared on each other’s social media accounts ever since. In December, when it was time for her to hand over her crown, Tebow praised Nel-Peters in a sweet note, writing, “[Demi-Leigh], you represented Miss Universe so well! You’re an incredible role model, and carry yourself with beauty, kindness, and grace. I’m so proud of you!”
