Canadian fast food empire Tim Horton's is quietly (and politely, I'm sure) coming for McDonald's with the release of their Blueberry Waffle Breakfast Sandwich. According to their website, the new menu item features "two fresh blueberry studded waffles filled with savory sausage, fluffy omelette, and cheddar cheese."

In case you didn't know, McDonald's has been in the process of testing their own blueberry breakfast sandwich for the past month or so. Of course, it's called the Blueberry McGriddle, and...it has the exact same formula of sweet blueberry bread, sausage, cheese, and a scrambled egg. I mean sure, the texture of a waffle and a griddle cake are a bit different, but you see the similarity right?

Tim Hortons also has their own take on the classic McGriddle, and it's called the Maple Waffle Breakfast Sandwich. No tea, no shade, but we're kind of seeing a trend here...

Fortunately for McDonald's, Tim Hortons has under 1,000 restaurants in the United States. And compared to their estimated 13,905, that's chump change. So if Mickey D's does decide to launch their Blueberry McGriddle nationwide, there won't be a whole lot of competition. That said, Tim Hortons does have some other pretty innovative menu items that we'd definitely like to get our hands on.

First, there are the Tim Hortons Omelet Bites. For all of you paleo and keto people out there, this bread-less mini quiche situation is it! Plus, it comes in three flavors: Bacon & Cheese, Spinach & Cheese, and the new Jalepeño & Cheddar. Um, yum.

There's also a maple flavored "Iced Capp" (AKA Iced Cappuccino) and "Iced Shake" that deserve some thorough investigation. So if you live in the the Northeast, try and get a hold of these limited edition items while you still can. Enjoy!
