The actress will take on the role in the eight-episode drama, which is an offshoot of 'The Addams Family.'
TIFFANY TAYLOR: Tim Burton has found the Wednesday Addams for his new Netflix live-action drama in Jenna Ortega. Netflix shared the news on Twitter, along with a photo of Ortega holding up a Wednesday script. "Wednesday," the series, is described as a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery, charting Wednesday Addams' years as a student at Nevermore Academy.
The show will follow Ortega's Wednesday as she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability to thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solved the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago, all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.
Burton will direct and executive-produce the series. This marks his first foray into live-action TV. Ortega steps into the role of Wednesday that has previously been played by Lisa Loring in the ABC TV series "The Addams Family" in the '60s, and Christina Ricci in the '90s feature films.
