The Real Reason Behind The Ritz Cracker Shape Will Blow Your Mind

Update, July 7, 2021: You've probably already seen the Ritz cracker hack that TikToker @therealnobody30 revealed in June, yeah? Let me back up for a second just in case you missed it.

Last summer, the TikToker—who received almost 273,000 likes on that post—discovered the cleverly scalloped edges on Ritz crackers can actually be used to cut your cheese to place on your cracker. An incredible discovery, no? According to the brand itself, that is indeed the reasoning for the scallop shape of Ritz crackers.

Taking to their official TikTok account, Ritz showed exactly how to use the cracker to achieve the perfect square of cheese to place on top. It starts with a single cracker and then flips over to a cheese cutting tutorial. The quick vid is captioned: "💫 the more you know 💫 #RITZCrackers #snackhacks #snacks #cheese #fyp #foryoupage."

Who knew a cracker brand could be so educational?!

Original post, June 25, 2020: The ridges on Ritz crackers aren't only good for decoration, folks! One TikTok user discovered that you can use the scalloped edge for something pretty clutch.

Those tiny ridges can act as a knife to cut the perfect, mini square of cheese for your cracker, and it's genius. TikToker @therealnobody30 figured out that you can roll the ridges of the circular, lightly salted cracker over a slice of cheese to cut it into a nice cracker-size piece. Yes, it has been that easy this whole time! Every time you have cheese and crackers now, you'll have one less dirty utensil to clean. How about that?

There are mixed reactions in the comments. Some people are truly mind-blown, making comments like "this man is living in 2030" and "I was today years old when I learned this." The critics chimed in saying this would definitely not work with a block of cheese, so you'd still have to cut that with a knife first. They're not wrong, but this hack is golden if you have pre-sliced cheese on hand. The skeptics out there questioned the sturdiness of the cracker and wrote that the snack would likely crumble. Oh, and there are some deep thinkers who took the idea one step further asking if the hack would work with ham as well. There's only one way to find out!

It truly has never been easier to access food life hacks courtesy of those on TikTok. You learn something new every day. What a time to be alive!
