The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and you want something to do outside that isn't basic, don't you? Although hiking and camping are great spring and summer activities let me suggest something a little more aesthetically pleasing—plus, it's an excuse to wear a cute outfit: a tea party. You've already binged Bridgerton, so here's everything you should do to host the best tea party ever. It's what all the cool kids on TikTok are doing now anyway.

Prepare tea party foods and beverages.

The main event of any party is the food and a tea party calls for all the finger foods your heart could desire. If you want to get experimental in the kitchen, French macarons are a fun way to test out your baking skills and are easy to eat with your hands for something a little easier these mini quiches are another great option. A tea party OF COURSE calls for some tea and while you can steep some hot beverages to enjoy you can also make a refreshing iced tea like this Arnold Palmer to drink under the sun.

Pack up all your treats in a basket.

Something about picnic baskets are so charming and if you want to make the most of the great outdoors during your tea party having a sturdy way to transport the macarons you spent hours on is a must. Pick up something like this picnic basket kit off Amazon that comes with a blanket to sit on and utensils to use for eating. Many TikTok users also hit up their local thrift store in search of floral teacups and saucers to serve their food.

Decorate your space.

The goal is to host a tea party so pleasing to the eye your guests can't help but to post photos on Instagram or videos on TikTok, right? To do that you'll want some in-theme decorations. Fresh flowers are always a good option that you can pick up at the grocery store or order online ahead of time but a bundle of dried flowers gives an even chicer look and will last even longer since they don't require water.

Wear your best outfit.

You've likely been doing a lot of online shopping since March 2020 and hosting a tea party is your chance to show off the new dress or suit you splurged on but haven't had a chance to wear. This is the best excuse to put on a fancy outfit and will make the day even more whimsical and being as extra as possible is a must.

Try out a new TikTok trend.

When I scroll my FYP and see people having their own tea parties there is *always* some sort of cake or charcuterie board involved. Try out different hacks like the wine glass cake serving hack or "jarcuterie" so your guests have their own servings and you don't have to worry about cutting a cake into perfect slices.

Make a dreamy playlist.

Set the vibe by having a carefully curated playlist for your sunny day outing. You can make a playlist yourself (might I suggest some SZA?) or you can search on Spotify where some users have made their own Tea Party mixes for you to stream.

Draw inspiration from your favorite movies.

If you're not sure where to start with your tea party planning, take some inspiration from the experts. Alice and Wonderland and other fairytales are available for streaming on Disney+ so you can get more ideas for hosting your own mad tea party.
