Tiger Woods Injured in Roll-Over Car Accident

L.A. County firefighters and paramedics had to use the "jaws of life."

Famed golfer Tiger Woods was involved in a roll-over car collision, People reports. The Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department Headquarters released a statement on Twitter, though it didn't offer additional details on Woods's medical condition.

Mark Steinberg, Woods's agent, issued an additional statement to Golfweek, saying that Woods suffered "multiple leg injuries."

"He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support," Steinberg said.

The incident occurred this morning in the Rolling Hills Estates neighborhood of L.A., specifically at the intersection of Hawthorn Boulevard and Blackhorse Road. After responders extracted Woods using the "jaws of life," he was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. The Sheriffs Department added that it is continuing to investigate the situation. CNN adds that Woods was the only passenger in the car.

"On Feb. 23, 2021, at approximately 7:12 AM, LASD responded to a single vehicle roll-over traffic collision on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes," the sheriff's department said in the Twitter statement. "The vehicle was traveling northbound on Hawthorn Boulevard at Blackhorse Road, where it crashed. The vehicle sustained major damage."

People notes that Woods was in California to attend the Genesis Invitational at the Riviera Country Club. He didn't compete due to a back injury.
