Tiger Woods Extracted From Car Crash Using 'Jaws of Life'

Tiger Woods has been hospitalized after a single-car crash in Los Angeles Tuesday morning, TMZ and Golf Digest are reporting.

In a statement to Golf Digest, Woods' agent Mark Steinberg said: "Tiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries. He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support." Woods was reportedly extracted from the vehicle using "jaws of life."

Woods was on location at Riviera Country Club in L.A. following last weekend's Genesis Invitational, a tournament Woods hosts. On Monday, Woods was on the course for what was to be a two-day content capture with Golf Digest. Actors David Spade and Jada Pinkett-Smith, as well as NBA star Dwyane Wade, shared photos on social media throughout Monday evening and Tuesday morning from the shoots, where Woods was giving on-course lessons to the celebrities. According to Golf Digest, Woods did not arrive on Tuesday for the second day of shooting.

The accident comes after Woods gave CBS Sports' Jim Nantz an update on a pending back injury that has kept him out of the game. He told Nantz that he had a scheduled MRI for the injury and would share more about his plans to return as they came together. Reports that Woods sustained "multiple leg injuries" is nothing short of a dire sign for the legendary golfer's future. The back injuries Woods has battled in recent years have contributed to his participating in fewer tournaments. He had not yet made his 2021 debut on tour.
