Tiffany Haddish thanked Lorne Michaels for not hiring her on 'Saturday Night Live'

Tiffany Haddish stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers last night, and as always she brought the laughs. Meyers, a Saturday Night Live alum, and Haddish actually met back in 2009 when she auditioned to be on SNL. And, of course, Haddish brought in photographic evidence of their meeting for the first time. She shared a photo explaining that she “couldn’t find any other black people besides the janitor, and she really wanted a picture with [Meyers] so she made [him] take a picture with her and the janitor.” The reason for this photo, as Haddish says, was to show “that there was diversity” at SNL.

Although Haddish never landed a permanent role on SNL, in November she hosted the show and went straight to executive producer Lorne Michaels and spoke her truth. She said, “You know, I auditioned for this show a couple of times; thank you for not hiring me.”

Meyers then made a good point by saying that “anybody who can make it back to hosting without having worked there, that’s the real accomplishment.”
