Comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish has been wearing faux locs as a protective style since quarantine began. However, all of that changed on Tuesday when Haddish took to Instagram with a pair of shears in hand to announce that it was time for a fresh new look— a big chop.

Haddish explained to her fans that she's been talking about cutting all of her hair off for a while now: "I cut all my hair off cause I want to see my scalp. I know my whole body, I know where every mole is but I don’t know my scalp. So hello Scalp #SheReady for everything." Haddish wrote as a caption. The comedian proceeded to cut her locs one by one at the root, leaving behind not even a half inch of hair. Throughout the process, Haddish repeated reassuring affirmations to herself such as: "It's going to grow back" and "Today's a good day!". She finished by brushing her new buzzcut and posing for the camera.

In a follow-up video, the star assured the critics that her decision to chop off her hair had nothing to do with her mental state. "Nothing is wrong with my brain; I'm not suffering from no emotional sh*t, nothing," said Haddish. In fact, the star discussed the positive aspects that come with having her new cropped 'do. "It's the first time I've ever taken a shower and was not concerned about getting my hair wet," explained Haddish. She even seemed delighted at the extra time that she now has to devote to self-care. "Now, I can go running every day and not have to worry about my hair,"added Haddish. She's since touched up her hair with an even shorter cut, wearing it in a smooth low fade. Let's normalize buzzcuts on women! More of this, please.
