If you missed Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour, or are just hoping to relive the magic, you're in luck: the superstar is releasing Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé this week.
The film's official description reads: "Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé accentuates the journey of Renaissance World Tour, from its inception, to the opening in Stockholm, Sweden, to the finale in Kansas City, Mo. It is about Beyoncé’s intention, hard work, involvement in every aspect of the production, her creative mind and purpose to create her legacy and master her craft."
"I’m excited for people to see the show, but I’m really excited for everyone to see the process," Beyoncé says during the movie. Unlike Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert film, Beyoncé's film is part documentary, part concert footage—similar to her 2019 film, Homecoming, which documented her headlining Coachella. The Eras Tour movie filmed over just three nights during Swift's stop in Los Angeles, but the Renaissance film will reportedly include clips from all of Beyoncé's performances.
Yet, Swift and Beyoncé are not in competition—Beyoncé showed up to support Swift at her movie premiere, and Swift took to Instagram to gush, "I’m so glad I’ll never know what my life would’ve been like without Beyonce's influence. The way she’s taught me and every artist out here to break rules and defy industry norms. Her generosity of spirit. Her resilience and versatility. She’s been a guiding light throughout my career and the fact that she showed up tonight was like an actual fairytale."
Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé will have a runtime of 2 hours, 48 minutes, and will be released on December 1, 2023 worldwide.
