The star began her post saying that growing up, it was "very clear to me seeing the privilege that my dad had as opposed to my mother." Tia said that during the time when she and Tamera would travel with their mother Darlene while filming Sister, Sister, their mom would be asked if she was in the right seat when they were in first class.

"Another incident that stood out for me was when we were buying our first home as a family," she wrote. "My mother walked in the house model with us asking for a brochure. A person had said the houses were sold out. My dad walked in and it was a different story."

The cookbook author went on to say that it's been a tough year, but that her goal is to see true change in the world, and that hopefully the conversations around privilege occurring right now are leading to a shift.

"Several tears have been shed," she wrote. "However, a friend told me these tears will not be wasted. The love and support around the world has kept me going. A change is gonna come."

In addition to her post, she and her supplement company Anser shared a list of Black-owned businesses on their Instagram stories. You can find them all here.
