Three pitchers who can help you close out the fantasy baseball season strong

Pitching is extremely important in fantasy baseball, and even moreso late in the season. With aces established and low-level starters tossed to the wayside, maneuvering the waiver wire is key in the waning weeks of the season.

Scott Pianowski offers up three pitchers who are available to help right now up until the season comes to an end.

First up, we have Steven Matz. Matz has allowed 2 or fewer runs in six of his last seven starts. He also has a WHIP under 1.00 during that stretch. Set to have a strong end to the season on a Mets team that’s playing hard right now, Matz is available in 50 percent of leagues.

Next is Mike Montgomery. The RP-eligible hurler has double-digit K power and Scott recommends you stream him against anyone except the top offenses in the AL. He just 26% rostered in fantasy.

Finally, we have Pittsburgh Pirate Steven Brault, a former top prospect who has been great at home. He’s since cleaned up the walk problem that was plaguing him early this season, while also striking out a batter per inning. Brault is putting it together late in the season, and Scott expects his ERA to be in the mid-to-low 3s rest of season. He’s only 8% rostered.
