Thousands of Pounds of Skippy Peanut Butter Have Been Recalled Due to Potential Stainless Steel Fragments

Skippy Foods announced that they are voluntarily recalling 161,000 pounds of peanut butter due to stainless steel fragments possibly contaminating "a limited number of jars." On Wednesday, the company issued a statement on their website to let consumers know about this problem. "From our family to yours, we want you to know that we take the quality of our products very seriously and apologize to our fans for this situation," the announcement said.
The recalled products include: Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread, 40 ounces (best if used by May 4, 2023 and May 5, 2023), Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread Club Pack, two for 40 ounces (best if used by May 5 2023), Reduced Fat Super Chunk Peanut Butter Spread, 16.3 ounces (best if used by May 6, 2023 and May 7, 2023), and Peanut Butter Blend with Plant Protein, 14 ounces (best if used by May 10, 2023).

If you're unsure that you have a Skippy product that has been recalled, check the UPC number on the packaging. Problematic numbers include 37600-10520, 37600-10667, 37600-10499, and 37600-88095. Any sizes and varieties that differ from the products outlined above are not included in this recall.
In all, about 9,000 cases of the product have been flagged across 18 different states, including California, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. If you live in one of the affected areas and have discovered that you purchased a recalled product, you can return it to the store where you initially bought it or contact the Skippy Foods consumer engagement line at 1-866-475-4779. Representatives are available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. central time.
