Thomas Markle claims Meghan handed out 'bags of marijuana' at her first wedding

As if Meghan Markle doesn’t have enough to deal with right now, as rumours swirl about a rift between her and Kate Middleton in the royal family, her controversial dad, Thomas Markle, has once again revealed intimate details of her pre-royal life.

The former lighting director has opened up about the 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex’s first wedding to Trevor Engelson in 2011, which ended in divorce just two years later.

Despite it being previously reported that Thomas failed to show up at his daughter’s first wedding, he told the Daily Mail he actually walked her down the aisle on the day and revealed the couple’s unusual wedding day gift for their guests.

According to Thomas, Meghan and Trevor, who met when they were both in university, handed out party bags of marijuana on the day of their nuptials, in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

“It’s illegal, but it’s no big deal in Jamaica. It’s almost customary down there,” Thomas said in the candid interview.

“I don’t smoke weed and to the best of my knowledge nor does Meghan.

“I don’t know what I did with mine. I think I gave it away.”

He showed the Daily Mail a picture of himself posing proudly with his youngest daughter, right after walking her down the aisle alongside his ex-wife, Doria Ragland.

Thomas went on to say that he told the photographer not to take photos of him on the day, because he wanted it to be all about his beloved daughter and her new husband.

Photos from the day show Meghan appearing to play beer pong while dressed in a yellow polka dot bikini and a trucker hat.

Guests, who were also wearing swimmers and shorts, whittled away the day with other games on the beach such as wheelbarrow racing.

However, while the day may have been idyllic, Meghan and Trevor’s marriage didn’t last long, and just two years after they became man and wife, the pair had gone their separate ways, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ on their divorce papers.

Rumours swirled that Meghan’s career might have been to blame, with her role on Suits taking her to Toronto.

Trevor, now 41, remained in LA while his new wife commuted between the couple’s home in the States and her filming schedule in Canada.

While Trevor has so far stayed mum on his ex, a report last year claimed the film producer could be about to lift the lid on all of Meghan’s secrets – including a bombshell allegation of an “emotional affair”.

“Trevor and Meghan’s marriage broke down when she moved to Toronto, where Suits is filmed, and it was the distance that tore them apart,” a source told Woman’s Day.

During the interview with the Daily Mail, Thomas also expressed his shock at rumours that Meghan is causing a stir in Kensington Palace with her demanding behaviour.

Thomas claimed he didn’t recognise his daughter as the person in the reports and said she’s ‘going to hurt herself’ if she continues to be rude to staff.

Meghan’s dad famously pulled out her May 19th wedding to Prince Harry just days before he was due to walk her down the aisle.

He was accused of ‘faking’ a heart attack in the lead-up to the momentous event, however he showed the Daily Mail medical bills and medication to prove it happened.
