It’s not every day we see Lupita Nyong’o with long, straight hair. In fact, it’s pretty rare to see her sporting anything other than her short, cropped cut coupled with her usual headbands. However, while performing on the hit show Lip Sync Battle, Lupita wore a wig that made her borderline unrecognizable, shocking the audience and fans alike.
The wig was super straight with an angular cut. Actually, Lupita’s hair, paired with jean shorts over tights and a flannel, was the perfect ’90s look for lip-synching “Whatta Man” by Salt-N-Pepa. Check out her fun look for yourself, below:
Unsurprisingly, fans were completely in awe of the Oscar-winning actress’s look and overall performance (the judges even awarded her as the winner over the other contestant, Regina Hall). “This is epic,” commented one fan on her Instagram post revealing her win, with another writing, “Wow is that lupita??? Hair?? … she smoking hawt.”
Before that, Lupita sang a rendition of Enrique Iglesias’s 2014 hit Bailando, which is primarily in Spanish; however, the language difference certainly wasn’t an issue for the star. According to E! Online, Lupita considers herself Kenyan-Mexican and holds dual citizenship in both countries because of her years living in Mexico City as a child while her father taught at a school there.
Needless to say, not only did Lupita win the night with her look — she also won the overall competition, showing us she can sing (er, lip-synch?) and dance just as well as she can act.
