The Saratoga Springs’ Gideon Putnam Resort has played host to thousands of lavish weddings. Now the upscale New York resort is capitalizing on the flip-side of holy matrimony by offering couples divorce weekend packages.
The “Divorce Hotel” is a “business that promises couples a painless split in an idyllic setting,” according to the New York Post.

For $5,000, divorcing couples can stay in separate rooms for the weekend while they work with a professional mediator to hammer out the last difficult details of their divorce agreement.
“Practically, they are divorced after signing on Sunday,” founder Jim Halfens told The Post. “After signing, all work is done and we send it to a judge who only puts a stamp on it to make it official.”
And in the midst of the negotiations, the newly single former spouses can relax in the resort’s top-notch spa or hike around the Saratoga Spa State Park in the foothills of the Adirondacks.

The service is expected to start at the end of the month and any U.S. citizens are welcome to purchase a package.
A representative of the hotel said they will try to keep divorcing couples as far away from newly marrying couples as possible, lest they rub off on one another.
